Bengie Molina Signs with Toronto Blue Jays

Now, I am officially impressed with the Blue Jays off-season. Catcher Bengie Molina has been a proven winner with the Angels in recent years, joins other new teammates, B.J. Ryan, A.J. Burnett, Troy Glaus, Lyle Overbay. Molina signs a one-year 5 million dollar deal. Ryan, Burnett were questionable signings considering they have not been impact players over an extended period of time, but Molina solidifies this off-season with aggressive moves to show the fans the Blue Jays mean business in the AL East.

Wearing the road white uniforms, donning the winning-streak beard, Pittsburgh were just a lock to win the Super Bowl. Now that the season has ended, Big Ben can start looking like a normal person again, instead of mountain man who should wear flannel ala lumberjack legend Paul Bunyan. Letterman shaved off Rothlisberger’s beard live yesterday night on the Late Show. The razor of choice was the Gillette Fusion, who also had the shaving rights to the Johnny Damon shaving.
Tuesday Morning Quaterback: Super Bowl XL Edition

In order to get a better perspective on the sports-world, I have dedicated the last couple of days in being slothful and training my body to become a pompous, second-guessing fat man. In the tradition of fat men media honcho’s who criticizes too harshly, I try to emulate the likes of Mike Golic, Mike Francesa, John Kruk, and Peter King. Here are my “random thoughts”:
- The Super Bowl commercials were terribly boring.
- The officiating was terrible. The live-blog did not discuss the horrible holding call on Seattle while driving in the Pittsburgh red zone, and the ensuing personal foul on Hasselbeck’s low tackle after the INT.
- I’m really happy for coach Bill Cowher.
- The game was an overall huge disappointment, entertainment factor wise.
- Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash says the Seattle Seahawks were cheated on the Mike and Mike in the Morning news flashes.
- Has anyone seen Shaun Alexander? I thought he was the MVP.

The last segment of Mike and Mike in the Morning spoke about having weddings on the ESPN set, they also mentioned Dana Jacobson as a possible candidate. She then mentioned that she first needs to find a groom to make the event happen. Guess that means she is single, guys. Who wouldn’t mind having a girlfriend that doesn’t want to change the channel while watching the game? She could probably get you good tickets for your favorite teams as well. Trust me guys, this picture doesn’t do her justice, she normally looks cuter.
Indiana Pacers forward Jonathan Bender will most likely end up retiring due to chronic knee injuries at the age of 25. Bender, who was originally drafted out of high school was projected to be a star in the making. A 7’0” player that had the skills and ability of a shooting guard with tremendous leaping ability, Bender is an athlete whose career never blossomed due to injury. He was the #5 pick in the 1999 draft by the Toronto Raptors and was traded to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Antonio Davis. Bender ended up fighting for minutes throughout his career at Indiana in a log jam at the swing positions with Jalen Rose, Ron Artest, Al Harrington, and Stephen Jackson taking up the majority of the minutes.
Super Bowl XL MVP: Hines Ward

Hines Ward was voted the Super Bowl MVP today. Ward caught 5 receptions for 123 yards and 1 TD. The most spectacular of these plays had to be the 43 yard touchdown pass thrown by Randall El. Mr. Ward, from all of us at EndScore, congratulations on your trophies.
Super Bowl XL: Seahawks 10, Steelers 21

Pittsburgh’s running game turned out to be too much for Seattle in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. Bettis and company burned the clock and the Seahawks’ timeouts in their final drive. Seattle made a desperate attempt to tie in the end, but it was futile. There may have been some questionable calls, but no matter how many times you argue them, the Steelers are the Super Bowl Champions of 2006.
Super Bowl XL: 4th Quarter - Randall El Throws TD after an INT

Hassleback’s INT turned into a Pittsburgh touchdown after WR Randall El threw on a gadget play. The ball sailed for a 43 yard pass to Hines Ward. Hassleback fumbled on the ensuing possession only to have the call overturned on a challenge. The overturned play turned out to be a bust anyhow with Seattle having to punt after a Pittsburgh sack.

Super Bowl XL: 3rd Quarter Henderson INT Leads to Seattle Touchdown

CB Kelly Henderson came up big in the endzone for Seattle by intercepting a pass that would’ve likely been a Pittsburg touchdown for WR Cedrick Wilson. Instead, Henderson takes the INT for 76 yards before getting tackled - a Super Bowl record. On the ensuing set of plays - 3rd and 6 - Matt Hasselbeck hit up Jerramy Stevens for a 16 yard touchdown reception.

Super Bowl XL: 3rd Quarter Steelers Extend Lead, Seahawks Miss Another

Willie Parker took it to the house with a Super Bowl record setting 75 yard run. The Seahawks put up a healthy drive and attempted another FG - this time for 50 yards. Josh Brown missed another key scoring opportunity for the Seahawks.
